Watch: Fortune favours the brave Chaminda Vaas: It was a contest between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The match had no reason to become sensational but it became so eventually owing to what you see in this video. Bangladesh were stuttering and staggering at 172-6 in 47 overs. Chaminda Vaas bowled a stump to stump full length delivery and it was whacked by Khaled Mashed, and the ball raced towards Vaas’ face. And as they say, fortune favors the brave Vaas with his quick reflexes was fortunate enough to grab the ball onto his palms.

It was merely an expression of defense mechanism by Vaas as he tried to block the ball with both his hands from hitting his face. He quickly folded his hands with the ball concealed in his palms. Everyone were bamboozled as they were searching for the missing ball and that’s when Vaas showed the ball that he had caught and there emerged bursts of laughter with the Sri Lankan players jubilantly celebrating the once in a blue moon catch. While it is obviously a catch by fluke, we sure have to appreciate the quick reflex by Vaas.
