Day 1 of the auction saw teams in a race to acquire some of the best names going around in the cricketing arena. Wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan ended up being the most expensive buy at this year’s auction. He was brought by his previous franchise Mumbai Indians for a whopping INR 15.25 Crores.
Liam Livingstone bagged by Punjab Kings for INR 11.50 crores
One of the most anticipated names to go under the hammer heading into this year’s mega auction was the hard-hitting all-rounder from England, Liam Livingstone.
Livingstone, originally from Lancashire in England, started a bidding war between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings with the KKR starting off the bid at his base price of INR 1 crore. At one point it seemed that CSK and KKR would try their best to go all out for the leg-spinning all-rounder, but CSK drew out of the bid at INR 3.80 Crores. Just when the Kolkata team thought they had him at INR 4 crores, Punjab entered into the fray.
Then the battle continued between the KKR and the PBKS for a while, before KKR withdrew from the bid and one of the new franchises, Gujarat Titans, entered into the bidding for a brief period. After trying to acquire the all-rounder, they walked away from the bid when the Sunrisers Hyderabad made a late entry into the bidding entering the picture at INR 10.25 Crores.
However, the PBKS were in no mood to let go away of the all-rounder and finally bought him for a mind-boggling price of INR 11.50 crore, making him the most expensive foreign buy in the auction up till now. Having not had a great stint in the IPL the last time he played, he qill l surely look to make amends in the upcoming season.

Charu sharma made mistake twice during Liam Livingstone bidding.
He took 2 consecutive bids for same price twice, once btw KKR & PBKS and then when SRH entered after PBKS.
Franchises wont raise it obviously as it saves them money 😜Did i watch it correctly?#IPLAuction
