Australians supporters can feel relieved after the Nine Network and Fox Sports finally struck a deal with the host broadcaster, Star Sports for the broadcasting rights of the World T20 in Australia. The deal is similar to the arrangement both networks had during last year’s 50-over World Cup.

Earlier, it was feared that Australian fans may face a black out of the event and miss out on following their team’s efforts to claim the World T20 after Channel Nine Network and Fox Sports had not agreed to pay “huge money” for the telecasting rights as reportedly demanded by host broadcaster, India TV giant Star Sports.

Fox Sports will show 35 World T20 clashes live, while the Nine network will broadcast all Australian matches as well as the finals, regardless of Australia’s involvement. Fox Sports coverage will also include 10 women’s World T20 matches. However, no specific details were not provided regarding which women’s matches will be telecasted.

Nine’s coverage will see former Australia skipper Michael Clarke in the commentary box in a full-time role. Clarke will be joined by Nine regulars Ian Chappell, Mark Taylor, Ian Healy and Brett Lee as well as Michael Hussey who is also contracted to the Australia team as a batting consultant coach for the first two weeks of the tournament.

Fox Sports confirmed it would screen all matches with no ad breaks during play and a high definition broadcast would be available to subscribers. Channel Nine, however, did not clarify if matches would be broadcast on its main channel and in HD.

In addition to the television broadcast, an extensive online coverage is also set to be provided by cricket.com.au. A team of journalists and camera operators based in India will cover every match of the tournament bringing readers breaking news, in depth analysis, and behind the scenes coverage of the tournament.  Dedicated journalists and camera crews will be travelling with the Australian men’s and women’s team that will help take fans on the journey with the teams.
