The Caribbean Premier League is a celebrated cricket tournament in West Indies. The T20 league commenced in 2013 and has grown leaps and bounds with the passage of time. Trinbago Knight Riders were the winners of the erstwhile season as they beat the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by three wickets. The event starts with a player’s draft after which the main league is staged.

The draft for the upcoming edition has recently been forwarded to the teams ahead of the draft ceremony in London on March 1, 2018. The extravaganza has been also seen a spike in interest among the players. There has been a 36% hike in player’s registrations and a 50% uplift of players who have expressed their desire to participate in the domestic T20 league.

CPL- The Biggest Party

Quite rightly, Pete Russell, the COO of the CPL, expressed his jubilation to the media surrounding the developments of the tournament. “We are delighted with the response that we have had to the Hero CPL draft this year. Every year we have seen an increase in the standard of players who want to be part of the Biggest Party in Sport, and 2018 is no different.” Russell said.

The tournament window also means that all Windies players will be available for selection. There will be cricketers from 18 countries who will be a part of the draft system. A total of 227 players have been registered compared to 151 from the previous season. 121 Windies cricketers have also been listed to take part in the draft ceremony. Pakistan (53) and Sri Lanka (32) are the highest contributors.

England, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Ireland and other associate and affiliate cricketing nations will also grace their presence in the event. Several prominent names like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Hashim Amla, Mohammad Amir and others will also feature in the upcoming event in London.
