It is fair to say that Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best things that happened to Indian cricket this decade. After Zaheer Khan, who retired in 2014 after having spearheaded the bowling attack for a decade and a half, the Indian fans always dreamt of boasting of a fast bowler, who could bowl with both pace and accuracy.

And the emergence of Jasprit Bumrah turned that dream into reality. After having impressed the then Mumbai Indians coach, John Wright in the trials, Bumrah was quickly drafted into the four-time champions set-up, and the champion fast bowler hasn’t looked behind since. The Indian pace-bowling spearhead is celebrating his 26th birthday today.

Bumrah, who is currently on a comeback trail following his injury, was in the news recently over some bizarre comments made by former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. In an interview on a Pakistan channel, Razzaq claimed that he had played with and against much-more celebrated bowlers like Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram during his playing days and he wouldn’t have had any problems facing the current No.1 ranked ODI fast bowler in the world, even going to the extent of calling him as ‘baby bowler’.

Following Razzaq’s comments, social media went into overdrive mode. Both fans, as well as pundits, mocked the former all-rounder over his obnoxious comments. And, now Bumrah’s Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians have decided to take a dig at Razzaq.

The Mumbai Indians’ social media team posted a photo of Bumrah uprooting the stumps with one of his toe-crushers with a subtle dig at the former Pakistan all-rounder. “From a ‘baby bowler’ to a world-beater 💥💙😋 #BoomBoozled #OneFamily #CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians @Jaspritbumrah93” Mumbai Indians tweeted.

Jasprit Bumrah slated for a New Zealand series comeback

Meanwhile, the Indian fans are eagerly waiting to see Jasprit Bumrah back in Indian colors. The right-handed bowler, who holds the distinction of taking a five-wicket haul in each of the four continents – Europe, Oceana, Africa and Caribbean- and being only the third Indian to take a Test match hat-trick, is slated to make his come back to the set-up when India tours New Zealand for a full tour comprising of three ODIs, five T20Is and two Test matches in January-February 2020.
