From motherhood to cricket, Neha Tanwar returns to play for India A
Neha Tanwar has played five ODIs and two T20Is for India.
Neha Tanwar will take the field for the India Women’s ‘A’ side against Bangladesh in an ODI series, three years after becoming a proud mother. The Delhi-born cricketer was a member of the Indian women’s team that locked horns against West Indies in 2011. The right-hand batter also played against Australia and New Zealand. She quit the game in the year 2014, after representing India in five ODIs and 2 T20Is.
She spent quality time with her family and returned to action a year and a half later. She was picked by Delhi. It is a great thing to be back. It would not have happened without the support from the family,” Tanwar had said. She also visited the NCA and attended women’s camp.
Squad announced
The BCCI announced the squad on Monday night and it was a perfect script for Tanwar, who worked hard on her game. She has been selected for the ODI series. Young cricketer Jemima Rodrigues got a call up for the T20Is. She has hit a double hundred in BCCI’s U19 meet.
“It never was easy. There was pressure since Day One. Practising with boys helped me immensely as the quality between their cricket and our cricket is immense. I’ve always played against older and better players in the camps. Over time, I learnt that merit and talent hold far more importance than age.” Jemima had said after scoring the double ton.
