Gautam Gambhir agitated after getting dismissed against Himachal Pradesh
Left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar got rid of him.
Gautam Gambhir, the discarded Indian batsman, is pretty vocal about putting forth his opinions and doesn’t mince any words in pouring his heart out. He is pretty expressive on the cricket pitch and prefers to remain animated. He has also got into several altercations with the opposition players, including the likes of Indian captain Virat Kohli and former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi.
Another example of the same was seen during Delhi’s Ranji Trophy Elite Group B encounter against Himachal Pradesh at Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. The home team, led by Nitish Rana, won the toss and had no hesitation to bat first. The 37-year-old Gambhir and Hiten Dalal opened the batting and took their team off to a decent start with a partnership of 96 runs from 97 deliveries.
A furious Gautam Gambhir
Dalal was the more aggressive partner, but Gambhir, on the other hand, kept the scoreboard moving as well. He scored 44 runs from 50 balls and his knock was laced with eight glorious boundaries. However, the seasoned campaigner perished against the run of play. Left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar got rid of him when the batsman tried to push forward and play a defensive stroke.
The ball seemed to have brushed his gloves after which it spooned up and Priyanshu Khanduri, standing at short leg, caught hold of the leather without any fuss. Thereafter, the Madhya Pradesh fielders appealed in unison and the on-field umpire raised his finger without nurturing any inhabitation. The visitors would have breathed a sigh of relief as Gambhir was looking ominous.
The decision didn’t please Gambhir by any stretch of the imagination. After being given out, he expressed dissatisfaction, signalling that the ball didn’t hit either his gloves or the bat. Rather, he pointed toward the right side of his chest. While making his way back to the pavilion, the veteran batsman hurled some stern words and didn’t seem happy by any means.
