It was hardly a few days post the traumatic incident in Gorakhpur where several children were killed due to the shortage of oxygen supply. Farrukhabad faced a similar incident where 49 new born babies were killed due to the lack of oxygen supply at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Former Indian International and skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter to condemn this act of negligence.
The death toll in the Gorakhpur tragedy was marked around 63. The horrific tragedy occurred in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College due to a shocking reason. According to reports, around 30 children died within 48 hours as the oxygen supply was cut-off by a private contractor due to a payment dispute. Despite pressing 90 jumbo cylinders the hospital again ran out of oxygen at 1 am.
RP Singh, Amit Mishra along with Gautam Gambhir himself offered their condolences post the shocking incident in Gorakhpur. “A case has been registered against the CMO, CMS and some other doctors. Further action will be taken as the investigation proceeds,” claimed Dayanand Mishra, SP Farrukhabad according to News18.

“I had been visiting local government hospital, but no doctor informed me about the children deaths. The investigation done by city magistrate team has revealed that there was negligence on the part of doctors of RML hospital. It was the duty of CMO and CMS, the senior officers of medical service to take appropriate action to save the precious lives,” quoted Farrukhabad MLA, Mejor Sunil Dutt Dwivedi as per reports from TOI.
The matter came into the reckoning after Ravindra Kumar, designated as the District Magistrate of Farrukhabad ordered an investigation on August 30, post his visit to the hospital while interacting with parents of the victims. Though Alarmingly, the local media had already reported that at least one infant died in SNCU ward in every 14 hour before he paid a visit to the hospital.
