Gautam Gambhir donates his 1 month salary and Rs 1 crore from MPLAD Fund to PM Cares Fund

Earlier, Gambhir had released Rs 50 lakh for the equipments needed for the treatment of the patients suffering from the Coronavirus.

India going under lockdown for three weeks to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic has led to the poor people and daily wage workers suffering. In a bid to help them and the Indian Health care system, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the citizens of the country to donate to the PM’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES).

And the response to the same has been great with the Indian celebrities doing their bit in this fight against the virus. The cricketers are not behind either with the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina among others donated a hefty amount to the fund. BJP MP and the former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has joined the bandwagon as he has donated his one month salary towards the noble cause.

Moreover, Gambhir has also announced a Rs 1 crore help from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund.

“It is time that all resources of the country be directed towards fighting COVID-19. Have released INR 1 Crore from my MP LAD fund towards relief efforts. Have also donated one month’s salary towards the Central Relief Fund. United we stand!!” the 38-year-old was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Earlier, Gautam Gambhir had released Rs 50 lakh for the equipments needed for the treatment of the patients suffering from the Coronavirus. He had also informed in a statement that his ‘Gautam Gambhir foundation’ was distributing the food packets to the needy and hungry people in his constituency. Moreover, the foundation is also planning to distribute 2000 packets of food to ensure that no one will suffer during these tough times.

On Saturday, even the richest cricket board in the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came forward to announced a massive help of Rs 51 crore to the PM CARES fund in the fight against the deadly virus. While Suresh Raina also donated Rs 52 lakh (Rs 31 lakh to PM’s relief fund and Rs 21 lakh UP CM’s Disaster Relief Fund) as help, even Sachin Tendulkar has contributed Rs 50 lakh.
