Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has been a heartthrob of millions of fans and one of the most charismatic personalities to have played and led a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After a relishing stint of 3 years with Delhi Daredevils from 2008, he shifted base to Kolkata with the Knight Riders and led the side to two glorious winning campaigns in 2012 and 2014.
Now, for the IPL 2018, the charismatic captain is back with his home franchise Daredevils to play the last part of his career in front of his own people. After the 2018 auction, where he wasn’t retained KKR revealed that they had a discussion with Gambhir regarding his future association and both the parties mutually decided to let go this partnership.
Happy to be back
The Delhi boy returned to his old franchise, as he was bought by DD for INR 2.80 crores in the auction. Gambhir has now been officially announced as the captain of the Delhi team for the upcoming season of the tournament. He is very excited to be leading the troops once again for the Daredevils.

Delhi was always in my mind
The newly appointed DD skipper revealed that he would love to finish his IPL career with the Delhi team. He had expressed this desire while captaining the Knight Riders.
“I think my heart is still with Delhi. I played for three years for Delhi. Somewhere, deep within my heart, I’d love to finish with Delhi. Though I am the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, and would want them to win it for the third time, but since I’m a Delhi boy too, I obviously want Delhi Daredevils to do well as well,” he had said.
