Gautam Gambhir gives a wonderful reply to his opponent AAP's Atishi

The contest for the East Delhi seat in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections was a very interesting one. It seemed one of the toughest battles with three strong contestants fighting for the seat. While the BJP decided to put the debutant Gautam Gambhir in the race for this seat, it was Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress who was the other contestant. Representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was Atishi who was considered another tough contender.

With the way things panned out during the campaigning process, all eyes were on this seat during the counting process. Earlier, Atishi accused Gambhir of circulating derogatory pamphlets that attack her personally. Hence, this turned out to become quite a controversy. It was a war of words between the two with the BJP candidate denying the charges.

Gautam Gambhir further responded with a defamation notice to Atishi and Manish Sisodia, Dy CM of Delhi. The cricketer put up a series of tweets terming it a plan to try and win the elections. He also accused that the AAP was behind these pamphlets. Despite all these odds, Gambhir managed to win the election with a clear majority and Atishi, in fact ended third in the contest.

A worthy opposition can never be undervalued

Post the elections, things seemed to have cooled down between Gautam Gambhir and Atishi. The AAP leader put up a series of tweets and also congratulated the left-handed batsman for the win. “Congratulations to @GautamGambhir! People of East Delhi have reposed their trust in you. I will always be available for help and collaboration for the betterment of East Delhi. All the best!” she wrote in the first of the four tweets that she put up.

Gauti came up with a fine reply to this tweet. He thanked Atishi for the good wishes and said that a worthy opposition can never be undervalued. Moreover, he added that he will give a shout to collaborate for all things constructive.
