Gautam Gambhir lashes out at Mohammad Azharuddin for ringing the Eden Gardens bell
Azharuddin was banned from playing International cricket after his alleged involvement in spot-fixing all those years ago.
Discarded Indian opener Gautam Gambhir is always a vocal person on social media who lets out his anger and frustration genuinely. He recently blasted the Aam Aadmi Party for failing to control the declining air quality in Delhi and once again, he was out there letting his frustration out.
In the first T20I between India and Windies at the Eden Gardens, as a part of the old ritual, Mohammad Azharuddin was invited to ring the iconic bell and kick-start the proceedings. This didn’t go down well with Gambhir, who lashed out at the BCCI for belittling its No Tolerance Policy against the corrupt.
Azharuddin was banned from playing International cricket after his alleged involvement in spot-fixing all those years ago. The BCCI did clear him of all these charges a couple of years back and he also contested in the Hyderabad Cricket Association elections. But the 37-year-old was clearly unhappy and felt BCCI, CoA and the CAB let themselves down.
“India may have won today at Eden but I am sorry BCCI, CoA & CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! I know he was allowed to contest HCA polls but then this is shocking. The bell is ringing, hope the powers that be are listening,” said Gambhir via his official Twitter handle.

Impressive debutants help India register a convincing win
Krunal Pandya and Khaleel Ahmed were handed their maiden T20I caps on Sunday and both these cricketers made the most of the opportunity. Whilst Pandya impressed with the bat and ball, Khaleel chipped in with a remarkable spell to earn praises from the fans.
Pandya registered figures of 1/15 whilst Khaleel returned with a wicket in his four overs, giving away just 16 runs. The Windies bowlers did give a strong fight defending a paltry 110-run target, but Krunal Pandya’s quickfire 21 off 9 balls, in the end, was enough to get the Men in Blue over the line.
