Gautam Gambhir questions the quota system in India
The left-handed Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir has lashed out against the quota system in India. The quota system has been one of the most controversial issues which many governments have used inappropriately to woo the voters. The reservation system is not something new which is prone to controversies. It has had quite a history.
While many have chosen to stay mum over their opinion about it, Gambhir has expressed strong views on the controversial system. Known for his flamboyant and aggressive style on the field, Gautam Gambhir has been in the news many times in recent months, the latest being his scuffle with Manoj Tiwary. But today he has raised an important issue regarding the biased quota system on the social networking site, Twitter.
Gambhir questioned the point of sacrificing life for the country when there was a demand for quota everywhere. He then tweeted again stating that a soldier never thinks about quota while sacrificing his life and does it for the country irrespective of any quota.
It was quite his point of view which can be further debated as to whether what he said was totally or partially right and in what context. It has been a controversial topic and Gambhir has surely thrown his weight on those forces who are against the reservation system in the country that ranges from educational institutions to government jobs and promotions.
Earlier in the day, Gambhir’s opening partner Sehwag also asked the people in Haryana to maintain peace – Virender Sehwag bowls against violence in Haryana
