MS Dhoni is the quintessential grandfather of the Indian cricket team. Being one of the seniormost players in the side, he has taken on the role of being somewhat of the coach on the field of play as well. When the likes of Siddharth Kaul and Kuldeep Yadav find themselves stuck or stumped, they simply turn to Dhoni who comes back with some advice on how to go about certain situations together.
Recently, his completion of 10,000 runs in ODI cricket was something that underlined the fact tha tthe 37-year old is indeed a legend of the game. Many took to Twitter to wish him on achieving this milestone despite the fact that the Indians lost out to England in Lord’s thereby ensuring that the latter did square the three-match series 1-1.
However, despite this, Dhoni remains an integral part of the Indian side. Having plied his trade for his team over the last 14 odd years, Dhoni has seen it all. This now includes a white beard that he has begun sporting. Although being just 37, Dhoni has begun sporting the salt & pepper beard, something that is certainly not approved by his former deputy-in-arms Gautam Gambhir. The latter opined that the beard did indeed make him look far more older than he actually was and certainly did not approve of the same.
Gambhir added that Dhoni was perhaps a lot more fitter than many of the other members of the side. “MS Dhoni looks 5-10 years older than he is at the moment and I think someone needs to tell him that he is looking far more older than he is. I think he is pretty much very fit, on the ground he is quick, he is as fit as any other youngster. I think the look makes him far more older than he is,” said Gambhir.
Here is what Gambhir had to say:
