Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir is known to be a serious character on and off the field. He often means business with the kind of intent he shows. In the recent times, he has been one of the most consistent performers in the Indian domestic circuit. In the recently concluded edition of the Indian Premier League, Gambhir led his side Kolkata Knight Riders to the penultimate stage of the tournament.

On the personal front, he was spot on with his form as well. Throughout the season, he bagged many trophies for his individual brilliance. At the conclusion of the edition, Gautam Gambhir was awarded the FBB Stylish Player of the Season. His Delhi teammate and close friend, Shikhar Dhawan, was quick to congratulate Gambhir on his achievement.

Interestingly, the two left-handed batsmen have been competing with one another for a spot in the national setup. The kind of form Gambhir was in, many believed that he would earn a national call-up as well for the Champions Trophy. However, the selectors opted to go with Dhawan in the squad. Well, Dhawan also earned his spot for the fact that he finished as the third leading run-getter in the IPL season this year and Gambhir was second.

Showing mutual admiration

One would expect the two players to be at loggerheads but they seem to be sharing great bonhomie. Shikhar congratulated Gambhir on winning the FBB Stylish Player award. He tweeted, “Truly deserving of the FBB Stylish award @GautamGambhir Rabb Rakha.”

In response to this tweet, Gautam Gambhir thanked Dhawan for his wishes and wished him all the luck for the Champions Trophy. Gautam tweeted, “Thanks shikhi gud luck for the champions trophy do well.”

The mutual admiration did not stop right there and Dhawan tweeted back to Gambhir yet again. He thanked Gambhir for his good wishes. He wrote back, “Thank you Gauti bhai.”
