Australian cricketer George Bailey made a terrible comeback to international cricket, after almost a span of one year. Bailey replaced Tim Paine as the wicket-keeper for World XI, as the visitors took on Pakistan in the decider yesterday. Pakistan piled up 183 runs in 20 overs, and the visitors struggled to chase the total, and lost the game at the end.

Bailey consumed 12 deliveries and scored just 3 runs, including a maiden over from Rumman Raees. He was later trolled on the microblogging site, as many cricket fans trolled the Aussie batter.

Twitterati trolls hard

One guy twitted “Faf Duplessis be like: We were 6 balls short! Credit goes to George Bailey for giving maiden over to Raees”. While another wrote “George Bailey 3(12) as horrendous as it can get. Expected better from you mate.” Well, skipper du Plessis didn’t put much excuse, and rather lauded the team effort and cherished the good memories. He said “This has been a huge success. We wanted to come here and play a small part in cricket coming back to Pakistan. Thank everyone for the opportunity for coming here. We were joking about it, the blokes were saying we should do this every year. For a lot of guys who don’t play a lot of international cricket these days, this was terrific competition against a strong Pakistan side. There’s lot more energy, their fielding is electric. That’s a big change. They’re as good as any team. Skills wise, yorkers, slower balls – they’re all there. We were very happy to be here and play a role. Thank you so much for the hospitality.”

Bailey is not a part of the Australian limited overs squad, which will take on India, tomorrow in Chennai. The visitors will look to seal the limited-overs series after failing to win the Test contest earlier this year.
