6th February 2022 is a special day for Deepak Hooda. Hooda will make his One Day International (ODI) debut for the Indian side against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The occasion becomes all the more special for the all-rounder as he will make his debut in India’s 1000th ODI match.
And, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed at the toss that Hooda will make his debut. The ‘Hitman’ also added that it is a historic day for the entire Indian cricket team and this journey to 1000 ODI matches has been one that has had a lot of ups and downs. India will bowl first in their 1000th ODI.
“We will bowl first. It’s a historic day in Indian cricket, been a long journey for India. We have seen a lot of ups and downs. As a team we have grown over the years, and we’ll continue to do that. We had a few positive Covid cases, so we have some new faces. Deepak Hooda is making his ODI debut,” said Rohit Sharma at the toss.

Isnt the captain supposed to hand over the national cap to the player who makes his debut. But Deepak Hooda got his cap from Virat Kohli and not Rohit Sharma.

All eyes will be on Deepak Hooda making his debut but will he get a bowl? If he does well with bat and ball, he could be the missing piece to India’s XI, however still believe a fit Hardik is the match winner we need #INDvsWI

Today's playing XI speaks a lot about the two Deepak of Indian cricket. #DeepakHooda is seen as a finisher/allrounder as back up option while #DeepakChahar is a seaming all rounder back up to #Shardul and possibly #Hardik. Not specialist seamer who are Siraj and Praisdh. #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/zbyjbwZDuG
