It is about getting back with right mindset: Murali Vijay
At the fun festival, one of the reporters asked him if he would be a little out of shape when he makes a comeback to the national setup again.
Veteran Indian Test batsman Murali Vijay has been out of action in international cricket for almost 5 months now. Vijay was named in the Indian squad for the three match Test series against Sri Lanka. At the very last moment, just before the tour commenced, Vijay injured himself and was subsequently ruled out. Shikhar Dhawan replaced him in the Test squad and made the most out of the opportunity that he got.
Dhawan emerged as the Player of the Series as team India thumped the islanders 3-0. Recently, Murali Vijay was seen chilling around at the Covelong Festival in his native state Tamil Nadu. At the fun festival, one of the reporters asked him if he would be a little out of shape when he makes a comeback to the national setup again. “You never forget to brush your teeth,” said Murali Vijay when asked if his game would be shaky when he makes a comeback.
‘Strongly believe in my abilities’
He further noted that it all depends on the mindset that any players comes back with whilst making a comeback of any sort. He cited that he is not really thinking a great deal about it. Also, he was quick to point out that he has firm faith in his abilities and hence is confident of doing well whenever he gets back on the field for the national side.
“At the moment I am not thinking about it. I strongly believe in my abilities. As the series nears, I’d work accordingly on what I am lacking at that moment and try to be better,” said the Indian opening batsman as per the quotes in Sportstarlive.
It is worth noting that team India is not having a Test series coming up until the year end. The national side has a plethora of limited overs cricket to play till then. This, in essence, serves a great amount of time for Murali Vijay to regain full fitness for the longest format of the game.
