Pakistan wasn’t able to pull things back for themselves in the third ODI on Tuesday as the visitors were white-washed by England 3-0. Owing to Babar Azam’s belligerent show with the bat Pakistan posted a target of 332 but couldn’t defend it. Their performance in the series has brought them under major scrutiny and thus the former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has weighed his opinions on it especially taking a dig at pacer Shaheen Afridi.
Danish Kaneria lamented the ordinary bowling display of Pakistan in the series and criticized Shaheen Afridi in particular who conceded 78 runs in his spell and went wicketless in the game. Recounting an incident from the past, Kaneria brought the instance where Shaheen and Sarfaraz Ahmed had clashed and the former’s reaction towards the senior was disrespectful. Taking it further Kaneria pointed that respecting the senior players on the side is the key to success.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi. Gh**te ka ace bowler (ace bowler, my foot!). You should be ashamed of yourself the way Vince, Gregory, and Salt have thrashed you. You need to improve your behavior first. You have hardly had any time since starting to play for Pakistan and want to be a star. When you don’t respect your senior this is what happens,” Danish Kaneria said on his YoutTube channel.
It seemed like Pakistan’s B-Team was playing against England’s A-Team: Danish Kaneria
Though England had to put an altogether new team for this series after Covid hit the camp of the first-choice team, the players displayed their fiefdom by dominating over Pakistan. They were spot on in all three departments that made the entire cricketing world lavish praises on the Ben Stokes-led side. However, Kaneria feels that this approach from Pakistan especially with the ball is not accepted as it poses a worry on the future of Pakistan cricket.
England was five down on 165 but their lower middle order pulled off an amazing chase. James Vince hit a splendid century that allowed the team to carry the momentum further. Thus despite a good show with bat Pakistan couldn’t find a way to avoid a clean sweep from the hosts.
“It seemed like Pakistan’s B-Team was playing against England’s A-Team and were brutally thrashed, whitewashed 0-3. Where has Pakistan’s performance gone? No doubt Babar Azam has gained his form but what about bowling? Such a poor performance. Neither they can bowl nor field well and take catches. Why are they even playing cricket? Why are they up to ruin the Pakistan cricket team?” Danish Kaneria said.
