Girls carried drinks for cricketers in Sri Lanka v India 4th ODI
Even the Indian players appeared to be surprised.
The extras in the team usually help their teammates on the field with drinks during a break. Which is also the medium the coaching staff uses to send across a message or two. But in the 4th ODI between Sri Lanka and India, a couple of girls made their way to the ground and were helping the players with drinks and napkins. The incident happened during the second innings when Men in Blue were defending the mammoth total of 375 they’d posted against the hosts.
During Sri Lanka’s chase in the evening, umpires called for the mandatory drinks break after the first hour. The reserve players Ajinkya Rahane and Yuzvendra Chahal brought the drinks for their mates but along with them few girls also strode out. Even the Indian players appeared to be surprised. But eventually, the break was important for them and had time to replenish themselves to move forward with the game.
Sri Lanka on the mat in the series
The hosts are struggling to even compete in the series as India lead 4-0. If India go on to win the fifth and final ODI, they will become the first team to whitewash Sri Lanka in their own den. Virat Kohli & Co. are the favourites to do so and they just have to repeat what they have been doing throughout the series.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are plagued with a plethora of injuries and have not found any momentum in this series. Barring a brief passage of play in every game, they have not been able to compete against the visitors. They would love to finish on a high and avert another embarrassing whitewash in front of their home crowd.
