India’s stand-in captain Rishabh Pant created a unique record on June 19 (Sunday) after he lost the fifth toss in a row in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa. As compared previously, this time Pant was in front of a new South African skipper, Keshav Maharaj. However, his luck did not change as the visitors yet again won the toss and chose to bowl at the fifth and final T20I match to be played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

It must be also noted that South Africa has opted to chase in all four previous matches but managed to achieve the total in the first two T20I matches only. The Men in Blue managed to restrict their opponents in the last two T20I matches as they won the encounters by a comfortable margin of 48 and 82 in the third and fourth T20I match respectively.

Skipper Pant has not been able to score runs in the series as well

Speaking at the toss Pant said, “The practice isn’t working for me (on the toss). Looks like a good wicket, we would like to get anything around 180-190. We just need to focus on the process and put in our 100% into the game. Playing the same team.”

Besides his luck at the toss, the left-handed batter has failed to score big runs in the ongoing series with many former cricketers including Wasim Jaffer and Dale Steyn criticizing his failures. In the current series against the Proteas, the Pant has been able to score just 57 runs at an average of 14.25 in four matches.

However, Pant should focus on the final T20I match and try to give his best for the team and clinch the series. Meanwhile, the visitors have made several changes to their squad with their regular skipper Temba Bavuma, Marco Jansen, and Tabraiz Shamsi replaced by Tristan Stubbs, Reeza Hendricks, and Kagiso Rabada.

Meanwhile, here are some Twitter reactions:
