Meanwhile, the two-time World Cup winner might only take the field in IPL 2022 after April 5 due to Cricket Australia (CA)’s central contract rules. RCB lost their first game of this season to PBKS by five wickets. Glenn Maxwell was one of the mandatory retentions of the Bengaluru-based franchise for this year along with the likes of batting megastar Virat Kohli and India pace sensation Mohammed Siraj respectively. He has been offered a sum of INR 11 crore.
The Australian power-hitter was rewarded for his batting exploits in 2021 where he was the leading run-scorer of the franchise having amassed 513 runs from 15 matches averaging 42.75 and a strike rate of 144.10 including six half-centuries. The senior cricketer would once again be expected to come out all guns blazing in the middle-order and make an impact with his right-arm off-spin as RCB eye a maiden IPL crown.
