Glenn Maxwell lists his top five T20 players ahead of T20 WC 2021
Maxwell also picked Adam Gilchrist in his list.
As the T20 World Cup 2021 is approaching really quickly, experts and fans have been coming up with their opinions as to which team will be declared the winner or which player will dominate the league. In the same light of events, Australia ace all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was asked to pick five players in his World T20 XI.
Maxwell picked his best five in the given format and made sure that all the departments are well looked at. In the first place, the Australian chose ace spinner Rashid Khan who has been ruling the world with his sheer brilliance. Khan has always been one of the desired prospects in several T20 leagues around the world.
Maxwell next chose Andre Russell in his team and stated that he can ‘add anything to his side.’ It is known to fans that Russell is celebrated as one of the hardest hitters of the ball wherein he has 6405 runs under his belt in 382 T20 matches. Currently, he is up with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021. Moving to his no. 3 pick, the all-rounder chose to go with Ben Stokes.
England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes can bring magic on the field on any given day and his on-point contribution with both bat and ball can land him in extreme demands. In his 148 T20 games, he has amassed 2865 runs with an average over 24. Stokes is currently not playing any kind of professional cricket owing to his mental health sabbatical.
Glenn Maxwell chose Shaun Tait as a surprising pick in his squad
Moving further in the developments, Maxwell chose Australia’s legendary batter, Adam Gilchrist, on number four. He is known as one of the best wicketkeeping-batter the world has ever seen. In fact, he was the one who brought up a revolution for this position.
The 32-year-old finally fetched in Shaun Tait in his top five members of World T20 XI. “Having played against him, I know how quick he was. Even at the back end of his career, he was bowling absolute rockets. I think he’d certainly strike fear into any batter at the other end,” said Maxwell about Tait as quoted by ICC.
