Glenn Maxwell has made quite a few fans with his highly popular batting impressions of other cricketers and their signature shots. The Australian all-rounder first came up with the impression in 2017. The video had gone viral for how spot-on Maxwell impersonated his former Australia teammate Steve Smith. Recently, he tried his hands at impersonating his Melbourne Stars teammate Kevin Pietersen. In the past, he had also tried his hands at mimicking the batting styles of Marcus Stoinis, Ricky Ponting as well as AB de Villiers.

Well, Maxwell’s latest pick for his impressive impression show is former India skipper MS Dhoni. The hard-hitting batsman expertly mimicked Dhoni’s brilliant batting stance before launching the famous helicopter shot. He also revealed an incident while playing the shot, hilariously revealing how Dhoni had punished him by hitting James Faulkner for a huge six after he dropped him on the previous delivery.

It was a full delivery and Dhoni was waiting on the backfoot to launch into it. He moved his front leg out of the line and laid his hands onto that one. It took just half a bat swing from the big man to send the ball into the night sky sailing deep into the stands. The ball travelled and travelled before landing 115 meters far from the launch spot.

“Indian legend MS Dhoni. Unfortunately, there was a game where I dropped him. Then he played this next shot and hit it out of the stadium.  Felt really good after that. He hit it 115 metres out of the ground. I think it was off James Faulkner’s bowling as well. Oh dear,” said Maxwell.

Here is the video of Maxwell making the perfect impression of MS Dhoni’s signature shot:

Dhoni will be back in the Indian team for the ODI series that they will play against Australia starting January 12. The three-match series will help him get in the groove for the World Cup to be played later this year in England.
