The Kings XI Punjab lost a nail-biting thriller against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mohali last night. What was surprising to see for the KXIP fans was the exclusion of Glenn Maxwell from the playing XI. While the reports were rife that the Aussie all-rounder was dropped from the side following a poor run in the tournament.

Glenn Maxwell had started showing signs of getting back to form with 2 half-centuries in the recent matches for the Kings XI Punjab. In the game against RCB, the team went ahead with Farhaan Behardien and Maxwell had to pave the way for the South African all-rounder.

After the match, Glenn Maxwell took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the heart wrenching close defeat against the RCB by just one run that has now confirmed the exit of the Kings XI tournament from the playoffs. Only under a rare circumstance can the Kings XI make it to the playoffs now since they have a very poor net run rate. Maxwell’s tweet revealed that he was injured and hence rested for the game.

He even announced that he is hoping for a speedy recovery which will make him available for the selection in the next match against the Mumbai Indians on Friday. He sympathized with the team for coming so close in the game and yet ending on the losing side.

He tweeted, “Gut wrenching loss for the guys tonight! Played their hearts out all night. Hopefully I can recover from this injury for next game! #kingsxi

Kings XI Punjab have four games to play and will have to play their skins out to end up higher on the points table.
