In a chat show for Cricbuzz with commentator Harsha Bhogle, Maxwell picked his IPL XI which includes four overseas and seven Indian players. Starting with the opening batsmen, Glenn chose his Australian teammate David Warner and Indian team and RCB’s skipper Virat Kohli.
With 4,706 runs, SRH’s Warner is the highest run-getter amongst foreign players and fourth highest run-scorer overall in the IPL history while Kohli with 5412 runs is the leading run-scorer in the tournament’s history. For the third and fourth slot, the all-rounder picked Royal Challengers Bangalore’s AB de Villiers and Chennai Super kings’ Suresh Raina. Both the players don’t need any introduction and have proved their mettle for their teams on a lot of occasions.
Moving forward, Maxwell placed himself at the Number 5 position while for the Number 6 slot of another all-rounder in the team, he picked West Indies swashbuckling cricketer Andre Russell. The wicketkeeper slot at Number 7 was claimed by none other than former Indian captain and current CSK’s captain MS Dhoni.
Meanwhile, the Australian cricketer made surprising choices for the bowling department as he picked all the Indian bowlers. CSK’s Harbhajan Singh was the only spinner in Maxwell’s playing XI while he picked MI’s Jasprit Bumrah and SRH’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the frontline steamers.
