Channel 7 in Australia recently did an interview with Australian cricket team head coach, Justin Langer. During the discussion one of Langer’s knock came up wherein he scored a century off a reverse sweep. It was a match between India and Australia, at the SCG. Usually an introspective, over-analytical batsman, Langer came out of his regular self and scored a century with such sassy confidence that he reached three figures with a reverse sweep.
He went on to score 117 in that innings in a match that had ended in a draw. A fun banter between Langer and former Australian cricketer Doug Walters came up during the session. Langer shared his memory of the conversation. When Langer told Walters about his reverse sweep, Walters replied, “That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.” Channel 7 uploaded this interview on Twitter.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell who is trying his best to break into the Test team retweeted it with a quote saying, “reckless”.
Here is his tweet:
Reckless… https://t.co/66asxGRpSI

Needless to say, the “reckless” comment didn’t get a good reception from the fans. Maxwell, who has been overlooked by the selection committee for Tests got a sarcastic reply from most who saw that tweet.
Here are some of the best replies:
Reckless? That’s not reckless! Reckless is not having you bat at three in Sydney today. #AusvIndia

You just added another 10 years to you 3 life bans I think mate 😂

Some fans though ridiculed Australian team’s selection criteria and questioned Maxwell’s exclusion from the Test squad.
I’d say that words better describes the current selection criteria

You'll be back mate and you'll be stronger for it. Regardless of the selectors mindsets you've been winning over the Australian public and they can only continue to ignore you for so long.

Glenn Maxwell speaks about his omission in Tests
Maxwell, on the other hand, feels that he hasn’t impressed in Tests much and hence wasn’t selected. “I think the way they look at it is they think I’ve got enough opportunities to show what I’ve got in the Test arena and they weren’t happy with what they saw,” Maxwell told reporters in Melbourne.
“If I can pile some more runs on at the back end of the summer, who knows. It’s too hard to concentrate on anything too far ahead. They’ve picked their squad at the moment and I’ll be watching,” he said.
