The mighty Australians are right on top in the tri-series involving England and New Zealand. After winning the opener against Kiwis, the Aussies carried the momentum in their second encounter against the Englishmen and were able to win it comprehensively. The comeback man Glenn Maxwell was the star with both bat and ball which eventually had helped his team make it two in two.
England batted first and posted a reasonably good total on the board after few cameos in the middle and a quickfire fifty from the number three batsman Dawid Malan. With 155 on the board, they needed someone in their bowling lineup to step up and do the job for them, however, the day belonged to Glenn Maxwell as he clubbed a match-winning unbeaten 103 punctuated by a last-ball six to memorably notch his ton.
Interestingly, the Aussies needed two runs to win, with as many as two dozen balls remaining and Maxwell’s partner Alex Carey, the wicketkeeper-batsman was on strike. Notably, it was important for Carey to give Maxwell strike and help him try his luck to reach that three-figure mark. One will have to say, Carey played maturely and ticked a single towards the on-side to bring the dashing all-rounder on strike.
Maxwell played a dot ball and was able to hit the next ball for a wonderful shot over mid-wicket region which eventually helped the team and him. Reciprocating to Alex Carey’s gesture, the Big show gifted him his bat, with which he scored 100. Carey couldn’t resist himself after this overwhelming gesture from the dynamic all-rounder and kissed him on his cheek.
Kookaburra Cricket tweeted the video of this beautiful conversation between two gentlemen saying, “How did @Gmaxi_32 thank @alexcarey05 for helping him to his? Check this out #TeamKookaburra“
