Glenn McGrath and Wife Sara blessed with baby daughter: Cricket legend Glenn McGrath and his wife Sara have given birth to a baby girl. The overjoyed couple welcomed their first child together into the world on Friday in Sydney. “Huge congratulations to Glenn and Sara McGrath who this afternoon welcomed their first child. The name is adorable” the Australian Women’s Weekly tweeted late on Friday.

The magazine said both mother and daughter were doing well. The parents have named their little girl, Madison Mary Harper McGrath. While this is 32-year-old Sara’s first biological baby, she is also stepmother to Glenn’s children with late wife Jane, James, 15, and Holly, 12, after his first wife Jane tragically passed away from cancer.

“We are adding to our family and we couldn’t be more delighted,” McGrath told The Australian Women’s Weekly at the time. “The kids are really excited. James used to ask us on a regular basis whether we were going to give him a baby brother. To see both their faces when they learned the news. James jumped up and gave both of us a hug and kiss. And that was really special for me and I know it meant a lot to Sara.”

The couple’s baby news comes after they faced several obstacles in their bid to start a family. With the sports star already having undergone a vasectomy in 2003, and no chance of a reversal, doctors had to perform an invasive procedure, which involved extracting sperm from his testicles. Meanwhile, Sara underwent IVF in an effort to produce a batch of healthy eggs. After combining the two, several embryos were created and doctors waited for the perfect time for Sara to receive one.

The couple met during the 2009 Indian Premier League, a year after Glenn lost Jane, and got together shortly afterwards. US-born Italian Sara came into the limelight when she married the Australian sports star five years ago and became the guardian of Glenn’s children Holly and James.
