'Going to make the most of it' - Adam Zampa not worried about losing rhythm due to long break

Adam Zampa was one of Australia’s key members in their maiden T20 World Cup triumph in the UAE in November last year where the Aussies defeated Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in a one-sided final. The Aaron Finch-led side would be defending their title later this year in their own backyard and look to become the first side to win back-to-back T20 world titles.

While the eighth edition of the showpiece event will be played in October-November this year, Zampa is confident that a three-month break will not break his momentum in any manner heading into the competition down under. The leggie’s better half is due to give birth in June as a result of which, he would not be available for the all-format tour of Sri Lanka in June-July that comprises three T20Is, five ODIs and three Tests.

“It’s pretty rare for a cricketer these days to get three months off, so I’m really going to make the most of it”, said Zampa while speaking to ESPNcricinfo.

“Potentially the next game of cricket that I’ll have is the 100-ball competition [starting in August], and then we’ve got a lot of cricket after that. I sat down with [selector] George Bailey yesterday and there’s potentially 15 games of cricket for me before the World Cup”, he added.

“There’s going to be a lot of rest coming up for me, but then definitely enough cricket before it gets real again”, said the leg-spinner.

Adam Zampa is currently in Pakistan for the limited-overs series that consists of three ODIs and a one-off T20I. Australia registered a famous win in the third and final Test match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore by 115 runs to seal the series 1-0, as the first two games in Rawalpindi and Karachi ended in a stalemate.

After a successful outing in the red-ball leg, the visitors would now be hoping to continue their splendid run in the white-ball leg as well.
