S Sreesanth announced his retirement from all forms of the game on March 9. He had last represented India way back in 2011. The veteran pacer tried hard to make a successful comeback into the national team and had also registered his name at the IPL 2022 mega auction, but he found no takers and went unsold.
After Sreesanth decided to call it a day on his cricketing career, his T20 World Cup 2007 and 2011 World Cup-winning Indian teammate Harbhajan Singh came forward to wish him luck for his future endeavors. Both the players were involved in the infamous ‘slapgate’ controversy during an IPL 2008 match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) where the Kerala cricketer was seen crying on the field after the game.
Harbhajan Singh wishes Sreesanth luck as he bids adieu to the game
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Sreesanth wrote “It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game . With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats )cricket”.
As soon as it came to Harbhajan’s notice, he came forward and wished the former speedster luck for his future as he wrote “Good luck shenta”.

Harbhajan had also announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in December last year. Coming back to the ‘slapgate’ incident in the summer of 2008, Harbhajan had allegedly openly slapped Sreesanth after Mumbai Indians’ defeat against Punjab, and was handed with a 11-game ban.
Thus, the off-spinner had to miss the remainder of the tournament. The star cricketer also ended up missing a few international matches after the IPL including the tri-series in Bangladesh featuring arch-rivals Pakistan and the 2008 Asia Cup that followed. Reportedly, the action also cost Harbhajan his entire IPL 2008 season’s salary.
