Google doodle celebrates India-New Zealand World T20 match
The ICC World T20 2016 officially begins with the Super 10 stage kicking off today with hosts India taking on New Zealand at Nagpur. The excitement is at the peak and understanding the importance of the event, search engine giants Google has marked the occasion with a Google Doodle.
The Super 10 round has 10 teams participating comprising of 8 top ranked nations and 2 qualifiers Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The qualifiers kickstarted on March 8 with two qualifiers Bangladesh and Oman advancing iinto the Super 10 stage.
When clicked the Doodle takes the user to the match experience centre in Google search, where the date wise fixtures latest scores, results, videos and many other things can be viewed.
The search giant has also launched an enhanced mobile experience for the World T20 recently. Google, explaining the features in the blog post, said that users can simply search “Cricket match”, “T20 Cricket” or “T20 score” and they will be redirected to the list of games. More details like expanded scoreboard, points tables, stats, news related to that game will also be available.
If a user chooses a particular team or a player he can see more details about the squad or the player. The scoreboard is refreshed automatically so you won’t have to refresh the page. Users can also ask questions like “When Is India’s next match?” to get results. The information will be available both in Hindi and English.
India is pitted against Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Pakistan in the Group 2. India will meet Pakistan on March 19th following the New Zealand clash. They then meet Bangladesh on March 25 and Australia on March 31. The final of the mega event will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 3 April.
