Ravindra Jadeja sported a new look when he played for Gujarat Lions at Rajkot on Tuesday. The Saurashtra all-rounder’s new look left Virat Kohli in splits and caught the wind on social media.
Jadeja was one of the many injury causalities of India’s long home Test season. he was advised two weeks rest by the BCCI’s medical staff to recuperate from the gruelling 13- Test home season in which India won 10 games. Jadeja was a star performer and along with Ashwin, he gave the batsmen a tough time with his left-arm spin. He claimed 71 wickets in 13 Tests which helped him achieve the number 1 ranking as a Test bowler for the first time in his career.
He made crucial runs down the order, none better than his 90-run knock against England which led India to a victory at Mohali. He was back with the Gujarat Lions squad after missing the first two games and had a new hairstyle as well as a new-look beard.

“I got bored of my old look and wanted to change my look. Everyone looked the same in the change room. So I tried a new look,” said Jadeja speaking with India Today.
Since making his Test debut in 2012, Jadeja has come a long way as a Test cricketer. His regular inclusion in the longer format of the game surprised many but the left-arm spinner kept on working on his game.
“I have worked hard on my skills. I worked a lot on my bowling as well. Wanted to be a key player in all formats and my hard work paid off,” he told India Today.
Jadeja was out of the Test team for 15 months following an average England tour in 2014. He forced his way back in the team when he picked 4 back to back five-wicket hauls and has never looked back since then. He worked on his game on the time spent away from the team and the results are there for everyone to see.
“I backed myself to do well in Tests. I have improved my temperament as well,” he said.
Jadeja is yet to make a contribution to his franchise in this IPL. He was off-colored in the first three games and could manage to pick just one wicket.
Gujarat Lions will play their next game on Friday against KKR at Eden Gardens. The wicket there might assist Jadeja’s style of bowling as they are known to be dry and offer spin.
