'Got some advice for you young man' - Matthew Hayden not pleased with Riyan Parag's cheeky celebration
Riyan Parag motioned that he has taken the catch before the ball hit the turf.
Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden was not impressed with Riyan Parag’s cheeky celebration after taking a catch. During Rajasthan Royals’ recent clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Parag took a clean catch in the deep mid-wicket region to dismiss Marcus Stoinis off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling. However, more than the grab, Parag’s controversial celebrations garnered the limelight.
The youngster motioned that he had taken the catch before the ball hit the turf. He took a dig at the third umpire for adjudging one of his catches unclean earlier in the match. In the 19th over, Parag came sprinting from long-on and seemed to have taken a terrific catch. However, after seeing the replays, the third umpire deemed that the ball had hit the ground before Parag grabbed it.

Displeased with the decision, Parag decided to give it back to the official, after taking Stoinis’ catch. Hayden, who was on-air at the time, was not pleased as he gave a piece of advice to the youngster. “Got some advice for you young man, cricket is a very very long game, and we all have very long memories and you never ever tempt fate because it comes around quick enough,” stated the former opener.
Meanwhile, Parag has been terrific in IPL 2022, having already taken 13 catches in the field. He has also played some fine knocks towards the end as RR are all but through to the playoffs. With an emphatic 24-run triumph against LSG, the Men in Pink advanced to second place in the team standings, taking their tally to 16 points.
“We have been taking some good decisions. It is very hard to maintain a chilled-out atmosphere when things don’t go your way. Credit to the boys. You keep on losing here and there. We want to go out there and express ourselves as a batting unit. We have a quality bowling lineup to defend,” stated RR skipper Sanju Samson after the game.
