Graeme Smith gives a fitting tribute to India after their astonishing run in South Africa
With a successful tour of South Africa, India climbed to the epitome of both the Test and ODI rankings
The Indian team culminated their South Africa tour on a high after winning the series decider at Cape Town, and in the process registered a double series win. Starting the tour with a narrow 1-2 loss in the Tests, India ended the bilateral series notching up a thrilling seven-run win in the third T20 International on Saturday for a 2-1 result. Previously, the visitors recorded a dominating 5-1 win series win in the ODI leg.
Prior to the start of the South Africa series, it was billed to be an enthralling contest between the Indian batsmen and the Proteas pace attack. But a surprise element that made all the difference in the recently concluded tour was the exemplary display by the Indian bowling unit.
Following such exemplary all-round display by the Men in Blue, wishes poured in from all corners of the cricket fraternity for their astonishing run in the rainbow nation. Former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith, heralded as one of the iconic batsmen of his generation also gave a fitting tribute to the Virat Kohli led side.
Smith took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “India has been terrific on this tour, played wonderful cricket and have won over a lot of South Africans with the way they have played the game as well. Kudos to @imVkohli and his team #SAvsIND.”

India ready for their upcoming challenges
With a successful tour of South Africa, India climbed to the epitome of both the Test and ODI rankings. And ahead of the tougher assignments against England and Australia later this year, Indian team’s recent heroics augers well.
However, prior to that, the Men in Blue will shift their focus on the upcoming Nidahas Trophy. The tournament, which celebrates Sri Lanka’s70 years of independence will feature three nations for the subcontinent who will engage in seven T20fixtures at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Bangladesh is the third team in the T20 tri-series.
