'Great work for humanity' - Harbhajan Singh hails Shahid Afridi after the latter distributes rations to 200 families in Pakistan
The former all-rounder, who is known for his benevolence, has won hearts of a lot of people for his gesture including Harbhajan Singh.
The entire world is gripped under the steadily escalating situation of the Coronavirus COVID-19. More than 11000 people have already died due to the rising pandemic, with the virus proliferating in more than 100 countries.
From schools, colleges, offices, libraries to sporting events, everything has been under lockdown, as the world grapples with the virus, that emerged from the Wuhan city of China late last year. One of the biggest casualties of the lockdown has been the poor, who rely on day-to-day earnings for their bread and butter.
With people ‘panic buying’, the poor have been struggling for basic necessities. Pakistan has seen more than 900 Coronavirus cases and with the poor people unable to get the basic things, former cricketer Shahid Afridi took it upon himself to distribute rations to 200 families in the country.

The former all-rounder, who is known for his benevolence, has won hearts of a lot of people for his gesture including Harbhajan Singh.
The ‘turbanator’ took to Twitter to applaud Afridi for his gesture and wrote: “Great work for humanity @SAfridiOfficial May god bless us all.. more power to you.. praying for world’s well being..hands Nanak Naam chardikala there change sarbat da bhala,”
Shahid Afridi, himself took to his Twitter account to urge Prime Minister Imran Khan and Minister of Health Zafar Mirza to help those suffering from Thalassemia, as they are the ones who will be worst affected by COVID-19.
“Since #CoronavirusPandemic has hit our country, major sufferers are those who suffer from Thalassemia. 28,000 units are required on a daily basis which are now at 3,000 – I request @ImranKhanPTI @zfrmrza @un @WHO to raise awareness abt this on how to safely donate for them,” Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan captain, wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, taking inspiration from Shahid Afridi, Afridi, the Pakistan State Minister for Safron and Narcotics Control, Shahryar Afridi, donated 1.5 million Pakistani Rupee to the Shahid Afridi Foundation to help them in their fight against the menace that is the pandemic coronavirus COVID-19.
