The seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is underway and 8 matches have already been played. All the teams have played their 1st matches and are looking forward to get a strong start in the tournament.
Gujarat Titans had a memorable time in their first-ever edition of the tournament in IPL 2022 as they clinched the title with the help of all-round performances from the entire circuit. The then-skipper Hardik Pandya showed great signs of maturity in his first season as a captain. They continued their dominance and reached the final of IPL 2023 but were defeated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
After Hardik was traded to Mumbai Indias (MI), GT appointed Shubman Gill as their new captain. GT have already played 2 matches in the current season. They won their first match against MI and lost the second one to CSK.
Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, on the other hand, are looking very strong as they have already won their first 2 matches in the league. Dhoni-led Chennai have added some great players to the team in this edition and are having a good balance between bat and ball. A lot of international all-rounders and game-changers are a part of the CSK camp. They would look to bounce back to winning ways.

In the bowling department, Mohit Sharma leads the wickets chart with 9. He is followed by Rashid Khan(8), Mohammed Shami and Matheesha Pathirana(7 each).
The teams last met in match 59 of IPL 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both GT openers, Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan notched up centuries, which was only the third such instance in IPL history. The pair also went on to match the record for the highest opening partnership in IPL history. The chase looked steep for CSK who were given hope with fifties from Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali but ultimately the climb was indeed too tall.
