'Guru vs Chela' - Ravi Shastri excited as MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant clash against each other in IPL 2021
While CSK will be hoping to put the demons of the past to rest, DC will like to continue its momentum from the past season.
The second match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a memorable affair as MS Dhoni will be up against Rishabh Pant at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It is believed that Dhoni and Pant share a teacher and student relationship with each other as the latter has learned a lot from the former Indian skipper and is filling his shoes in the Indian cricket team.
Dhoni will be captaining the franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2021. Rishabh, on the other hand, will be donning the skipper’s hat for the first time as Delhi Capitals’ (DC) regular captain Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the league after dislocating his shoulder.
India’s head coach Ravi Shastri also can’t contain his excitement of watching the much-awaited clash between MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant as he took to his official Twitter handle to tweet about the same. Shastri also urged the fans to keenly listen to stump mic. Notably, Pant is known for his entertaining chatter from behind the stumps.
“Guru vs Chela. Bahot Maza aayega aaj. Stump Mic suniyega zaroor #DhoniReturns #Pant #IPL2021 #DCvsCSK – @ChennaiIPL @DelhiCapitals,” tweeted Shastri.
It will be extra special to walk out for the toss with MS Dhoni: Rishabh Pant
Entering the contest, both CSK and DC will have different outlooks. While CSK will be hoping to put the demons of the past to rest, DC will like to continue its momentum from the past season. The two teams had contrasting runs in IPL 2020 as the Super Kings finished at the seventh position while the Capitals made their maiden appearance in the final of the tournament.
Rishabh Pant opined on the marquee clash with MS Dhoni saying that it will be special to walk out for the toss as he has learned a lot from the former skipper. “It will be extra special to walk out for the toss with MS Dhoni. This will be the first time that I will be leading an IPL team and the first match is against Mahi bhai,” Pant said ahead of the CSK vs DC encounter in Mumbai on Saturday.
“I have learned a lot from him, and I have gained a lot of experience from him. Hopefully, I can use this experience against him, and we can win this match. That’s what I am looking forward to,” Pant added.
