T20 veteran Darren Sammy is all excited to be a part of the World XI team for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan. The World XI team will play 3 T20s starting on September 12 during the course of the tour. The series is expected to bring back cricket of international sorts back to the Pakistani soil. Pakistan has been deprived of international matches since the year 2009.
As per the recent quotes in Geo.tv, Darren Sammy mentioned that he is happy to be a part of the process of bringing cricket back in Pakistan. He mentioned that he shared his experience about playing the PSL final in Lahore this year. He hopes that fans get all the happiness that they have been craving for over the last few years.
“Pakistan is trying to bring cricket back safely and we are happy to be part of that. It is exciting. It is bigger than just cricket matches…it is bigger and will play a part in bringing cricket back in Pakistan,” Darren Sammy said.
“This morning I shared my experience of visiting Pakistan for the PSL final but the fact that all of them are here is because they have accepted to be part of this [series]. We all are glad to be part of this process, I know that fans would go crazy in the stadium and we’ll play some good competitive cricket,” he mentioned.
On Pakistani fans
Commenting on the experience of playing in Pakistan, Sammy called the Pakistan fans as passionate followers of the game. He noted that the World XI tour is crucial in many ways. He is hoping to put forth some quality cricket action for the fans.
“We just enjoy playing the game and Pakistani fans are very massive fans of people from the West Indies. I try to entertain where I go and that’s what I’ll try to do when I will be playing in Pakistan. It is so crucial, the part we play, in making sure that fans in Pakistan get to see some good competitive cricket and I am excited about these three games,” he conceded.
