Harbhajan credits Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal for Indian victory
Both the Indian spinners shared 5 wickets amongst them in 9 overs.
While Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni’s timely partnership which recovered India from an early collapse, took the spotlight and grabbed more traction, many forgot to acknowledge the Indian wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav who played an integral role in the team’s victory last night. However, Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh didn’t forget to give them a special mention in his tweet.
Congratulating India on the win, Harbhajan wrote: “Big win guys?? @BCCI vs @CricketAus top batting @hardikpandya7 @msdhoni & young spinners @yuzi_chahal @imkuldeep18 keep up the good work.”
Here’s what Bhajji tweeted after the game:
Yuzvendra Chahal was outstanding with the ball yesterday. He first managed to take the wicket of Glenn Maxwell who was looking dangerous and had hit 22 runs in the earlier over. He then got the wicket of Matthew Wade and Pat Cummins in the end. His figures of 3/30 in 5 overs were vital for India.
On the other hand, his partner Kuldeep Yadav also proved his keenness with the ball. He first got rid of David Warner. After being hit for 22 runs by Maxwell in his previous over, the chinaman came back to take the wicket of Marcus Stoinis. Thus, both the bowling performances were key in determining India’s victory yesterday.
Earlier in the day after falling to 87/5, Hardik Pandya and Mahendra Singh Dhoni combined for a scintillating 118 run partnership for the sixth wicket to take India out of the rocks. Their contributions propelled India to a competitive total of 281/7 in their quota of 50 overs.
Australia who were chasing a revised total of 164 in 21 overs failed to hang in at the crease. They never looked in a position to win the game. They lost wickets at regular intervals and struggled to put runs on the board. In the end, India won by 26 runs as per the DLS method and managed to gain a 1-0 lead in the series.
