Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar engage in Twitter banter ahead of India-Pakistan T20 World Cup clash
Harbhajan and Shoaib faced each other on the field plenty of times during their playing days.
Shoaib Akhtar was known for ruffling quite a few feathers during his playing days. He used to run in with all his might and terrorise batters with his deliveries. In fact, he holds the record for the fastest delivery in international cricket. However. Injuries and controversies became an integral part of Akhtar’s career as well. He also played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
In the meantime, the Rawalpindi Express had a friendly banter with veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh on Twitter. Both cricketers are a part of the panel of analysts for the T20 World Cup in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Their conversation added some more excitement prior to India’s game against Pakistan on Sunday, October 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
“With Mr. I know it all @harbhajan_singh in Dubai for a pre discussion about the mother of all competitions,” Akhtar wrote.

Harbhajan isn’t someone to keep quiet for long. He sent out an apt reply for the retired speedster. “When u have 400 plus test wickets am sure you know more about cricket then someone with less than 200 wickets (sic),” Harbhajan replied.
Singh’s reply
Harbhajan hasn’t played any form of international cricket since India’s campaign in the 2016 Asia Cup in Bangladesh. However, he remains one of the greats of the game, having picked up over 400 wickets in Test cricket. He also picked up 269 wickets in ODI cricket. Overall, he picked up more than 1300 wickets in his career across first-class, List A and T20 cricket.
As far as India’s upcoming game against Pakistan is concerned, plenty of hype has already been generated. In their previous five meetings, India have come out trumps every other time. The last time when the two teams met in the T20 World Cup was in 2016. In that game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Men in Blue secured victory after Virat Kohli’s half-century.
Back in 2007, they locked horns for the first time in T20Is. In their first-ever meeting, India won after the game went into a bowl-out. India also beat Pakistan in the final at Johannesburg in the same year.
