The Indian discard Harbhajan Singh has hailed the Aussie skipper Steve Smith after he steered his team to a draw in the fourth Ashes Test at MCG. Smith slammed 23rd century of his Test career on the final day of the Test thereby keeping England bowlers at bay. He remained unbeaten in the end on 102 and is looking absolutely invincible in the ongoing series. However, Bhajji was literally overawed with his knock and praised him in his latest social media update.
There has been a lot of debate going on from last few weeks over the superiority between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. The way the latter is racking up records with consistency, surely the cricket fans have admitted that Smith is the best as far as the longest format is concerned. He has also scored heaps of runs away from home as well with his unorthodox technique. Kohli too has been impeccable at home but has to prove his consistency in alien conditions which he will be aiming to do in 2018 when India is set to be on road.
Bhajji has a question
Ashes is the most followed bilateral series in the cricketing world and it is no surprise that the even the former and current Indian cricketers keep following the proceedings even during their busy schedules. Harbhajan Singh seemed to have witnessed another masterclass from the Aussie captain who displayed the other side of his batting maestro. His gritty knock helped Australia keep their rivals winless on the tour and the Indian off-spinner couldn’t resist himself from praising him on social media. He absolutely bowed down to Smith and asked how could he be dismissed ever.
“How do you get this guy out??? Take a bow champion @stevesmith49 class what a player #Ashes2017 #ENGVSAUS,” tweeted Bhajji on the microblogging website Twitter. Even Joe Root, the England captain, conceded that they have tried all the plans to dismiss Smith and they have been clearly outplayed by him. Currently, the 29-year-old has scored 604 runs in six innings at a jaw-dropping average of 151 and the best score of 239. These numbers prove that he is in the zone and is enjoying the purple patch of his career.
