Harbhajan Singh is aware of his line and lengths to certain batsmen, reckons Brett Lee

Harbhajan Singh might be 38 but he hasn’t lost his mojo by any stretch of the imagination. The Punjab born spinner may be out of contention for a berth in the Indian national team, but that hasn’t stopped him from giving his best every time he steps on the cricket pitch. He is currently plying his trade for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season.

He was bought by the MS Dhoni-captained franchise back in 2018 and he hasn’t disappointed one bit. Last season, he didn’t pick up a whole lot of wickets but continued to be effective, this season, he has been amongst the wickets. The experienced campaigner has 16 wickets from 10 matches at an economy of 7.12 with best figures of 3/20 versus the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening game of the tournament.

Yesterday, CSK played the Qualifier 2 against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam and the right-arm tweaker picked up Shikhar Dhawan and Sherfane Rutherford. The spell helped CSK restrict Shreyas Iyer & Co. for 147 in 20 overs and also helped the Yellow Army win the game by six wickets.

In the meantime, former Australia bowler Brett Lee was delighted with Harbhajan’s prowess. Lee mentioned that Singh is aware of the line and lengths to bowl to certain batsmen and has impeccable control over his deliveries. Moreover, Brett termed him as a ‘confident’ individual.

“He exactly knows where to bowl for certain batsmen. His bowling was outstanding, he got some beautiful shape on the ball again. I love the revolutions of the ball. That tells us that he has good control on the ball. He is bowling with confidence,” Lee was quoted as saying in Star Sports Select Dugout.

“His stand is basically right-handers vs left-handers. Just shows how good a bowler he is. He can bring in the LBW both against the left and the right-handers,” the former pacer added.

Harbhajan Singh is now most likely to play the final versus the Rohit Sharma-captained Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, May 12.
