He played for the country from 1998 to 2016 and was also part of India’s World Cup-winning team in 2011 and the T20 World Cup-winning team in 2007. He picked up 711 wickets for India and also scored 3,569 runs.
Harbhajan was one of the top earners in the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super King (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Harbhajan, one of India’s long-time servants, who thrived under captains Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni, played in the finals of the 2003 World Cup and picked up two wickets. India, however, went on to lose that match to Australia by 125 runs. He was one of the core members of the team in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup.
