One of the longest-serving players for the Mumbai Indians will be donning the yellow jersey this time around. Harbhajan Singh, who’d been associated with the Mumbai side for ten long years, was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2018 for INR 2 crores. Recently, Singh expressed his feelings towards his old franchise and also expressed his excitement about being part of a new team.

Both Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings have been tremendously successful in the tournament. While MI has won the IPL thrice, CSK has won it twice and gone to the playoffs for every season in between 2008-15. The 2018 edition of the IPL will see the proceedings start off with a high-octane clash between the two top sides.

Harbhajan Singh excited to play for CSK

As reported by the Chennai Super Kings official website, Harbhajan Singh bid an emotional adieu to his former franchise. Expressing his fondness towards the 10-year long association, Singh said, “It’ll be a game filled with emotions for me given that this was my home ground for the first 10 seasons. As a professional, however, these are things that one needs to overcome and deliver, and that’s what I will be looking to do. CSK and MI have always had great games and as players, that’s what one looks forward to as it gives one immense satisfaction in proving in these matches.”

Talking about the competitiveness that exists between the sides, the 37-year old said, “From one strong team to another strong team, it’s a new journey and with a new jersey number 27. I’m just going to go with the flow and see how it turns out. It wasn’t one season but 10 years and obviously,

He continued. “I know the kind of cricket that they play, but then it’s no secret because with every team playing each other over the years, each knows how the other approach the game, the brand of cricket that they play. Obviously having been a part of the think-tank I guess I know more than most about how MI plays… The bottom line remains that one needs to play better than them to beat them and CSK have the team to beat them. It’s a big game and I can tell our CSK fans that we will give our best.”
