Harbhajan Singh takes a sly dig at South Africa; asks Jonty Rhodes to bat in Ranchi Test
South Africa have looked all at sea so far in the Test series.
South Africa are facing the heat in India; not only literally but also metaphorically. The Virat Kohli-led side literally walked over the inexperienced Proteas in the second game at the M.C.A Stadium in Pune. On a pitch that Temba Bavuma referred to as “the closest to what they get back home in South Africa”, the visitors were outbattled in every facet of the game.
On a surface where India racked up runs more than 600 runs, South Africa’s top-order looked completely at sea. They struggled against the Indian pacers as well as their spinners. And were only saved from the blemishes courtesy a dodged resistance in both innings by the likes of Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander.
Bhajji takes a sly dig at South Africa’s batting issues
With the batting looking out of their depth to tackle India, criticism has galore from all corners. Now, the Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, has taken a cheeky dig at South Africa’s troubles by asking former Proteas cricketer Jonty Rhodes if he can bat at Ranchi for the visitors?
Rhodes is currently in India for a photoshoot in Mumbai. He had taken to his social media platforms to post his pictures where he can be seen donning his country’s national jersey. His post read, ”Feels good to be back in the green and gold, even if it is only for a shoot at the iconic #mehboobstudio in Mumbai #stillflying.”
Harbhajan Singh is currently working as a commentator for the ongoing Test series between India and South Africa. He took Jonty’s post as an opportunity to take a sly dig at the tourists’ batting troubles. Commenting on the post of his former Mumbai Indians fielding coach, Bhajji asked Rhodes if he can play the last Test match at Ranchi, considering South Africa need some batting. He commented, ”Can u play the last test in Ranchi SA need some batting Jonty.”
Meanwhile, the South Africans will have one last chance to put up a competitive performance and avoid the ignominy of a 0-3 whitewash. The final Test starts in Ranchi on 19th October where the hosts will be looking to add 40 more points to their tally.
