The recent ghastly attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama has only deteriorated the bilateral tension between India and Pakistan. While India continue to sort out the issue in a peaceful manner, Pakistan have resorted to their year-old way of terrorism. Despite India’s continuous calls to stop cross-border terrorism, Pakistan have done very little so far. The recent attack in Pulwama is another proof that it is high time a big and bold step is taken.
The whole of India was left in utter shock when an explosives-laden SUV rammed into a convoy which was holding 2500 CRPF jawans on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The attack claimed the lives of more than 44 personnel and left several fatally injured. Pakistan have vehemently denied the allegations despite Pakistan-based militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed taking responsibility of the attack.
The dastardly attack has infuriated the Indians and rightly so. The cricketing fraternity has also come forward to condemn the heinous attack while showing solidarity with the nation. Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has now urged Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to take some quick action to put an end to the cross-border terrorism.
“I can only tell Imran Khan that he should take steps so that these issues can be addressed and how they can be addressed, he knows best,” Harbhajan told India Today.
“We are too small to understand how these issues can be tackled politically. But there should be an end to this. An end after which not a single soldier of ours has to lose his life. Because every soldier is someone’s son or brother and only that family can understand the pain,” he added.
Harbhajan’s comment comes after Imran Khan gave his statement on the Pulwama attack. The former Pakistan cricket skipper not only denied his country’s involvement in the war but also said that they would not sit back if India attacks.
Boycott Pakistan
Earlier this week, Harbhajan Singh had also said that India should boycott Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup as a mark of protest. The veteran spinner felt that the Men in Blue are strong enough to progress despite losing two points to their neighbouring country.
“India should not play Pakistan in the World Cup. India are powerful enough to win the World Cup without having to play Pakistan,” Harbhajan Singh had told Aaj Tak.
