Hardik & Krunal Pandya take inspiration from Pathan brothers

Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya have burst onto the scene in the most blistering of manners. While Hardik has gone on to make an impact in the national side, older brother Krunal has had a few match-winning performances with the Mumbai Indians. The duo sends out a reminder to the brothers of yesteryear. Although Irfan and Yusuf Pathan are very much a part of the cricketing scheme of things, it is certainly no secret to where the Pandya brothers get their inspiration from.

“Obviously, it feels amazing when I see my brother sitting next to me in the same clothes. We have always been lucky to play together on the same team and that is something quite amazing,” Hardik Pandya said.

“From our childhood, we were dreaming of playing together and at the moment, we are happy that we are playing together and playing for such a big team like the Mumbai Indians,” Kunal Pandya said.

Hardik Pandya, not for the first time cited the Pathan brothers for their impact on them when they were kids. Krunal Pandya illustrated a story of them watching the Pathan brothers make an entry when hey were playing their U19 cricket.

“To be honest, the city where we are from, we have seen the Pathan brothers (Irfan & Yusuf). The inspiration comes from there and we have been following them since  we were kids and seeing them play for India is a huge motivation for us. The same goes with my brother as well.”

“Yes, I remember that we were playing U19 cricket together and once Irfan Bhai and Yusuf Bhai came there. We were just watching them and dreaming that one day the two of us will play together for Baroda and in the IPL as well. It has come true and it is just the beginning for us and we will have to go a long way,” Krunal added.

When asked about his hairstyle and fashion similarity with Hardik, a jovial Krunal Pandya accepted that he did indeed copied his brother’s fashion tips each time.

“Honestly, I have started it. You need to ask him (Krunal) whether he is copying me or something or whether it’s natural.”

“It comes naturally, but I do copy him when it comes to fashion. I am an old school guy, but yes I do copy Hardik from time to time,” Krunal replied.

The older of the Pandya brothers concluded on a brotherly note, praising his brother’s hard-hitting prowess.

“According to me, I rate Hardik very high and the ability he has to hit big sixes whenever needed is amazing. He is a brilliant striker of the ball and he is batting really well at the moment. I know we have 9 games to go and I definitely have an impact,” Krunal added.
