The Indian innings looked in turmoil until Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Hardik Pandya decided to start the revival act.
Though rain interrupted the proceedings in the first ODI between India and Australia, the match did absolute justice to the spectators by leaving up to its hype. The Chepauk Stadium in Chennai witnessed a full house as the two behemoths in world cricket collided against each other. However, things did not start well for the home side with big Aussie Nathan Coulter-Nile wrecking havoc in the Indian batting lineup.

Pandya continued his red-hot form with the bat as he repeated his innings in the ICC Champions Trophy final against Pakistan. The Baroda boy shattered the Australian bowlers especially the young Adam Zampa as he hit 5 towering maximums on his way to 83 of just 66 balls. Legendary Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was brilliant in providing support to Pandya, and his innings was defined by maturity and class. Dhoni played a 79 run knock facing 88 deliveries which helped India reach a respectable total of 281 runs in their 50 designated overs.

Interestingly, Hardik Pandya was spotted wearing the gloves of his IPL team Mumbai Indians. the blue and gold shades of the Mumbai team was clearly visible in the pair of gloves that he wore and it turned out to be of immense luck to the batsman. IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings confirmed the news on their official Twitter handle. The club mentioned that IPL was the winner in its own way in this match as it also marked the return of Dhoni to Chennai.

Pandya also managed to pick up two wickets with the ball and rightly bagged the Man of the Match award in the first ODI.
