Hardik Pandya knows how to win games and his cricketing IQ is very good: Deep Dasgupta
Deep Dasgupta is also looking forward to a combination of head coach Ashish Nehra and captain Hardik Pandya.
Gujarat Titans are set to make their debut in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named the skipper for the first time in the cash-rich league and he will be keen on making an impact in his first season while at the helm. Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta is also looking forward to the Baroda cricketer’s captaincy skills in the tournament.
Dasgupta noted that Hardik was part of Mumbai Indians till the last season, the team that has won the title for a record five times and feels that will help him while leading the Titans. He is also excited to see how the combination of head coach Ashish Nehra and captain Hardik Pandya works.
“Ashish Nehra and Hardik Pandya combination is one of the aspects to watch out for. Hardik’s cricketing IQ is very good, he was a part of the franchise that is known for winning games. He knows how to win games and he was a part of that culture. A lot of positives for Hardik and it should be a good season,” Deep Dasgupta said on Sky247.net presents Not Just Cricket Show on CricTracker.
There are a few blanks in GT squad, says Deep Dasgupta
Talking about the make-up of the Gujarat Titans squad, the 44-year-old felt the team lacks the required bite. However, he also cautioned the other teams as they can turn out to be a dangerous side if things start to fall in place for them. He also opined that Jason Roy pulling out of the whole tournament has certainly made things tough for the franchise.
“There are a few blanks in their squad. Though it’s not a bad side, I feel they look weak on paper, but my opinion can change once the matches start for Gujarat. Jason Roy pulling out is a big difference for Gujarat,” Dasgupta added.
